What's a V.Smile?
The V.Smile was an edutainment console manufactured by VTech from 2004 to 2010, aimed towards children from 4 to 7 years old. The console spawned a few generations and models, including the V.Smile Motion, V.Smile Pocket, V.Smile Baby and V.Flash. For all intents and purposes, this page only covers the original V.Smile.
Why should I care?
I mean. You don't have to. But heed my warning:Video game preservation is something that is incredibly important to me. Not only that, but the V.Smile was one of my very first consoles, along with the NES and the N64. Which is why I find the lack of preservation for the console disconcerning. Yes, there's plenty of footage of the games online, but there's barely any ROM dumps. The best collection I could find is missing so many of the titles, including the english version of Zayzoo: My Alien Classmate (not to be confused with the sequel Zayzoo: An Earth Adventure, which do have similar plots but look and play completely differently). The V.Smile needs more representation in the video game preservation community, lest a large part of edutainment history is doomed to fade away.
you're just saying this because you're hyperfixated on the v.smile aren't you
sh-shut up :(
